Projects Update #20 “Top 100 Aircraft”

After receiving some good feedback on the design of the top 100 site, I’ve completely redesigned it. I feel it has a much more modern look. The content area is still not finished, so take that into account. I hope you guys like it!

Projects Update #19

Wow, another crazy week. I thought I would have more time this week, but I had even less. Although, I do have more progress than last week. ūüôā I really don’t enjoy working on the dream house right now (because of how tedious the work is). But, I will continue to push on, and hopefully next week I will have more progress. Continue reading

Projects Update #18 “Jelly Bean”

This is going to be a quick update this week. I didn’t have time to work on any of my usual projects because of some work around the house, but I do have something I think you guys are going to like. Introducing one of my new shaders: Jelly Bean.

Jelly Bean Shader

Post-Pro: only slight noise removal in Gimp. This is my first shader that I’m doing. I am pretty close to calling it finished. What do you guys think? That’s it for this week. I hope to have a lot more progress next week.

Freshwater Aquarium Wishlist

I previously owned an aquarium. Before that I owned a single betta. I did everything wrong. And that’s why I want to do it again. The last time I owned an aquarium, I didn’t know anything about aquariums. I researched what to do, what you need, and how to take care of it. But, I just didn’t want to make the time commitment. So, the tank suffered. I am ready now though to make that commitment.¬†I am going to go over a couple of the items on my list. Continue reading

Projects Update #17

This is the smallest update I have ever done. Because I just posted last Thursday, there is really nothing new. However, I did finish adding the entries for the Top 100 Aircraft website I have been working on. Now I can focus more on the design and functionality. So here it is:

That’s it guys. I would love your suggestions; just leave a comment below. See you guys next time!

Projects Update #16

This has been an exciting week. A lot has gone on, and I am really excited about how the shader pack is coming along. I also haven’t forgotten my other projects. For the next couple of weeks, you won’t really see any breathtaking changes on the house, although there will be progress. The tank is slowly, but surely, coming along. I’m not sure how I feel about the game.¬†And I completely redesigned the spectacles. Continue reading

X-55 Rhino Ghosting Fix

Recently, I purchased an X-55 Rhino HOTAS. Once I received it, I set it¬†up and started playing. It worked great for a day or two, then I began noticing it would¬†press a button occasionally without my pressing it. So, of course, I searched the internet and found that it is a common issue with the X-55. Apparently, the unit uses a lot of power, more than a USB2 socket¬†can consistently put out. So everyone recommended buying a powered USB hub or using USB3. As I was using USB3 already, I went¬†ahead and purchased a USB hub.¬†Once the hub arrived, I was excited to see that it worked…for a few minutes. Then the button presses came back. I was really at a loss as of what to do, so again, I searched around. I eventually found that the X-55 has an issue with USB3, so I plugged it into a USB2 socket and voila,¬†no ghosting. So the take away is: use a powered hub and USB2 socket. However, the hub can be USB3, as is the case with mine, just plug the hub into USB2. I hope this helped some people, and if you are questioning whether or not to buy this HOTAS, do so. It is the best¬†HOTAS¬†I’ve used.

Projects Update #15

I have a lot of exciting news this week! Not only do I have a really cool image for the tank, but I think I figured out what shader I’m going to do. Also, I did a little work on the steampunk competition entry. Last week this blog set a new record of 248 views in one day, so thank you guys! Continue reading

PBR Shading: An Introduction

Although it is nothing new, physically based rendering (PBR) has received a lot of attention recently. PBR shading tries to emulate the way objects react to light in the real world. Because of this, it has become widely popular in the gaming industry as it provides more realistic results with a faster workflow. By using real world principles, PBR shaders react much more realistically and stay more consistent under different lighting conditions. Join the new generation of artists and continue reading to see how to use these in your workflow. Continue reading
